My Fashion Life: Holly Dunmore, Model Booker

Continuing our little peek into the lives of fashion industry insiders, I grilled one of my very best friends, Holly, on her rather enviable job as a Men's Model Booker (lucky girl!).

Name: Holly Dunmore
Age: 24
Occupation: Model Booker – Mens Board of Select Model Agency, London

What first made you want to work in the fashion industry?  When I was 11, my Dad took me up to Regent Street on Christmas Eve.  Looking in all the big beautiful windows gave me such a rush; I didn’t want to be a lawyer anymore!

How did you end up in your current position? I started out at ASOS.com, working as a Shoot Coordinator on Menswear.  This involved casting and booking all the models for the shoots.  I used to talk to all the agencies every day and absolutely loved the agents at Select.  And the rest was history blah…

Describe what a typical work day is like for you:  Booking in jobs, castings, go-sees, tests for all the beautiful guys I work with!  Talking to clients, putting together packages and portfolios etc.

What are the best parts of your job?  The people.

Tell us about your first fashion memory:  Dressing up as Baby Spice.

Describe your style in 5 words or less: Girly, boho, hippy, rock wannabee

Who’s your style icon?  Brigitte Bardot.

What’s been the highlight of your fashion career so far?  The feeling of progressing within it!

Do you have any advice for readers who might want to work in the same field?  Work experience!  Start as young as you can, and work for FREE with all the spare time you have.  Build up your CV early, and write lots of letters to all the people you would love to work for.
