Return Of The Bombshell...

Cleavage, check. Big hair, check. Luscious pout; check. Sex appeal; check, check and check again.

Hallelujah! The bombshell is back in fashion. Real curves on the catwalk, corsets and bodices galore, beehive hairdos and hotpants... considering the direction fashion has been taking in the past 15 years, it seems almost like a mirage of health and expression of passion rolled into one.

It all started at the AW10 catwalks, awash with the curvier model; Lara Stone was as in-demand as ever, Doutzen Kroes, Alessandra Ambrosio and Laetitia Casta, amongst others, made catwalk appearances to riotous reactions, and fashion editors universally declaring that 'curves are back'.

Dolce and Gabbana's AW10 show took the trend ever further, with big bouffants, slick tailoring and a large dose of sexuality. Their season advertising goes hand in hand, featuring perhaps the ultimate in modern day sexual icons; Madonna, in pencil skirt and bustier combo.

Allistair McLellan's editorial 'Sweet and Vicious' for W magazine, encompasses the trend in one swift swoop. The gorgeous images of Ashley Smith, Barbara Palvin and (personal favourite) Lindsey Wixson prove that a good backcomb goes the distance, as does a full red pout;

And if we needed any more proof, then Daisy Lowe's spread in the July edition of Esquire magazine will not only change your mind, it may indeed make you turn a tiny bit lesbian. Amazing.

As a curvy woman, who has spent many years lamenting her natural cleavage and wishing she could pull off the 'no bra' look a la Kate Moss, this is all very much music to my ears. Thank you, Marc Jacobs, Steffano and Domenico, thank you indeed.
